Dictation in any app on your Mac, free, with no word limit.
Wispr Flow is a good dictation app. Mythral does the same everyday job, hold a key, talk, and the words land wherever your cursor is, but it runs entirely on your Mac. That's why it can be free: there are no servers to pay for.

Where Wispr Flow is better
It runs on your phone and on Windows, and your settings follow you between devices. Its rewriting of what you say is more elaborate. And on unusual names and jargon it is, today, more accurate than Mythral; that is the part we are working on hardest. If you dictate mostly on your phone, stay with it.
Who switches
People who keep hitting the free plan's weekly word limit and don't want another subscription, and people who can't send what they say to a server: consultants, lawyers and anyone dictating about clients. Mythral needs an Apple silicon Mac on macOS 14.4 or later and about 3.7 GB for its models.
Common questions
Is it really free? Yes. No trial, no account, no word limit. It's free because it runs on your Mac.
Does anything leave my Mac? No. The only network traffic is the one-time model download and a daily check for updates. The privacy page lists exactly what the app stores and sends.
Can I use both? Yes. They use different keys, so you can try Mythral alongside Wispr Flow before deciding.
